Day 5 of the 30-Day Writing Challenge: Your Parents

This writing challenge has been in hiatus. I am here to continue ^_^

I decided to continue working on this 30-day Writing Challenge because I have the sweetest reason to post for the Day 5 – About My Parents ^_^ Just this Sunday, June 5, 2022, they have celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Indeed, it was a precious blessing from God.

In many moments of my life, I can always say that whenever I am writing the words from my heart, it also drags my tears to flow from my eyes. I am always lost for words to write because my emotions are soaked into genuine happiness I feel inside. It’s just so overwhelming – this blessing I receive from heaven – my parents.

Let me just fill these spaces demanding for the details about my parents about the LOVE they have shared and was blessed by heavens for 40 long years and more.

My parents were college sweethearts and their love story started with my mother hating my father for his jokes at the post office. My mother was fond of sending letters to her pen pals, while my father was a postman. Whenever my mother asks if there’s a mail for her, my father always tells her that nothing arrived since he did not write any love letters yet. Hence, their theme song is “I STARTED A JOKE”, which my father sang, during this photo shoot.

Both of them were working college students. My mother was also a volunteer in a Day Care Center and at night, they were classmates taking Teacher Education bachelor’s degree. They have sealed their love on February 28… I can no longer recall the year, but the date was so vivid in my memory while reading their diary. I was young then when I knew that they kept a diary where they exchange their entries as lovers. Their call of endearment is “MAHAL” (love).

Their love was tested when they lost their first child, KUYA LENDO BREN… yet, here we are now, four (4) beautiful ladies and 1 man as fruits of their love ^_^

For more than 3 decades, I am a witness of their love story… our family also has our ups and downs and they are our PILLARS that keep us strong, their love for us keeps us bonded to each other, showing support to one another and always gives back to God for all the blessings that we receive, especially this precious gift of FAMILY.

I do always pray that God will give them more years to enjoy life with us and their grandchildren and that I may be able to let them experience the comfortable life they deserve – that I may realize with all the best that I can do because they truly deserve the best things in this world because they are the best part of ME.
