Hello to you! Welcome or welcome back to my blog.

So, you are here to learn how to study effectively.
Before I give you the practical ways (I have tried myself) on how you can study smarter, let me congratulate you for doing this thing right now.
You are trying to improve your ways of doing things because there are dreams you wish to unlock someday.
Studying effectively is not impossible when you find those ways that will work for you. As they say, there is no hard rule on this matter. No “one-size-fits-all” strategy, but what I will share with you in this post are the study techniques I had tried, which worked when I was still in high school and up to now that I am already pursuing my Ph.D.
Organization is a BIG WORD when it comes to studying. You should start organizing your place. I hope you have read my post on Why Having Your Workspace At Home Is Important because I mentioned how essential it is for students to identify a specific spot they can label “MY SPACE.”
You can never focus on studying when your things are scattered around you. It is not impossible to study in this situation, but let me repeat, it is hard to stay FOCUSED when you do not organize your place.
In my case, I usually spend an hour or two to prepare MY SPACE first and clean my place before I start my STUDY TIME.
Read your notes.
Well, I hope you have your notes (^_^)
Honestly, I cannot study our lessons using others’ notes. I don’t understand why my classmates borrow my notes if they want to study. I am not sure if they understand any of it.
I personalize my notes, make my annotations, and I am confident that I can understand and relate to those annotations.
Once you review your notes, it feels like you are brought back to the day that lesson was introduced.
That is what I always feel. I am refreshed!
Watch Video Tutorials.
You cannot expect your professors to discuss again to you the previous lessons. If you want to review them, find video tutorial resources. It enhances your learning. If some lessons are difficult to grasp and need clarification, you may ask your professors about that.
Watching video tutorials like this one by NCRMUK is also one of the ways to study effectively. In most cases, depending on the topic, some video tutorials provide more substantial information. Even if I am not reviewing for an examination, I watch relevant lessons in my classes.
I enjoy them.
I also watch videos on YT for life tutorials, but still related to academics. I am a fan of TheRedHeadAcademic.
Schedule your STUDY TIME.
Saying “I WILL STUDY” is not studying yet. Organizing your things and your notes are not studying yet. When you allot time dedicated to STUDYING, that is when you can study. Watching video tutorials is already an act of studying.
Scheduling your STUDY TIME, primarily using the TIME BLOCKING method, can help you study effectively. Pomodoro Technique is also good.
When you schedule, it means blocking everything from distracting you. You can focus on reading your notes, watching video tutorials, and preparing review materials.
I usually spend two-hour straight studying during nighttime. Yes, I am a nocturnal being. My brain is more functional when it’s already 10 pm to 2 am and when I am about to sleep, I usually review the materials I’ve read as I close my eyes. Very dramatic, lol!
Re-READ and Re-WRITE.
Some are reading their notes and claiming that they are already studying. To learn how to study effectively, you should understand what you are reading by explaining it again to yourself or your study buddy the concept that you have understood. Memorizing is one way, but even not memorizing it all is studying as long as you can grasp the lesson’s gist.
Re-reading and re-writing improve retention. Train your brain to recall essential terms and concepts by rereading and rewriting your lessons. It’s tedious, I know. It’s brain-draining, I know. But it’s like exercising, NO PAIN, NO GAIN!
That’s it for this post. I hope you have learned something from these practical ways how to study effectively.
