Day One: I Write Because…

I have accepted this challenge of #everydayinspiration by WordPress to write something based on this writing prompt.

This is going to be challenging, but certainly, this will give me a meaningful learning experience, not just in blogging, but also on the path toward self-discovery.

Today is supposed to be Day 15 already, but I have a very hectic schedule as a teacher, as a student, as a part-time writer, and full-time desperate blogger. Well, I know, that’s a lame excuse, but here I am –writing, so let the Day 15 be my Day 1 ^_^

Just yesterday, Facebook reminded me of a memory about my post 9 years ago. It was me complaining that I was always writing — the same statement still lingers in my mind while typing all of these LOL!

Yes, since the day I learned to write, I did not stop doing it LOL!

When I was still in my second grade, I remember my younger self that I was very excited to learn how to do cursive writing — and I was in my fifth grade when I joined writing competitions on campus journalism – with Feature and Sports Writing events in the Filipino Language.

Opo, ako ay isang dakilang MANUNULAT.

Writing for me before was my way of expressing. It’s me playing with words. It’s me trying to extract intangible thoughts and painting them into words.

During high school years, I talked with people and wrote about their stories. That’s when I realized that writing is not just about myself– it can also be about the people around me – about all other things in my world – even in other’s world. So, I continued writing.

College life was a respite.

I stopped writing to express and retell others’ stories, but I used the skill in making my thesis and other written tasks to finish my studies.

After college days, I went back to writing, and that time, writing offered me another recipe — that was when I started to WRITE FOR MONEY.

Now that I have entered the academic realm as a teacher and as a student, writing becomes a hobby – also a daunting TASK.

Now, I write because I WANT, and I NEED to write.

I WANT to write. That is the reason why I have this blog. I NEED to write because I have clients who hired me for it. Also, for my personal and professional undertakings.

Well, that’s all for today. How about you?

Why do you write? Leave your answer in the comment box below. I am interested to know your story.

Writing is fantastic! I do it to keep my brain from exploding. (Although sometimes it does that anyway.)
