I love to teach. I realized this when I volunteered as a “Flores de Mayo” teacher. Flores de Mayo (Spanish for “flowers of May”) is a festival held in the Philippines in the month of May. It is one of the May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary and lasts for the entire month.
When I was just an attendee of this Flores de Mayo, I always have in mind that I can really do what our teacher is doing and fast forward >>> I am now a College Instructor in one of the State Colleges here in the Davao Region, Philippines.
Teaching for me is my way of connecting to the world through touching the lives of my students. I love sharing what I know. I love making them realize that in this world, everyone MATTERS.
I am a Science Teacher, specializing Biology. I am now pursuing my PhD in Development Research and Administration, exploring Health Equity.
Now, that I have my two designations, I could hardly attend my classes and I hate it. I hope I can go back to teaching… to plain teaching, someday. That is the reason why I want to engage to community extension projects because we usually provide trainings and that is somehow like-teaching.
