DAY 7: Favorite Movie (Featuring Dragon Heart 1996)

This movie always comes to mind whenever I am asked with my favorite one. If I am recalling it right, I was on my 5th grade when I first watched the movie with our VHS player.

Dragonheart (stylized as DragonHeart) is a 1996 fantasy actionadventure film directed by Rob Cohen and written by Charles Edward Pogue based on a story created by him and Patrick Read Johnson. It stars Dennis QuaidDavid ThewlisPete PostlethwaiteDina Meyer, and Sean Connery as the voice of Draco. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and various other awards in 1996 and 1997. The film received mixed reviews but was a box office success.

The scene that affected me so much was the moment when the dragon sacrifices itself, to be pierced by its friend (Mel Gibson) just to kill the BAD PRINCE and save the town from the vicious PRINCE who once saved by the dragon with his another heart, which is why their lives were intertwined.

I was very young then, but the sacrifice of the dragon and even the courage of the knight to kill a friend was exceptional. I always tell this story every time I asked about this movie and with this 30-day Writing Challenge, I was able to retell again one good old memory ^_^
